Yes, some mohels provide circumcision services for families who are not Jewish, although every provider’s practice is different. Families may seek a mohel because they want an experienced circumcision provider, prefer an at-home setting, or are looking for a specific technique or more personal appointment experience.
A Bris Milah is not required for every private circumcision
A Bris Milah is a Jewish religious ceremony with its own traditions and timing. A non-Jewish family seeking circumcision may instead request a non-ceremonial appointment. The important step is to tell the provider exactly what you are looking for.
Ask about the provider’s training and experience
The title “mohel” describes a practitioner of Jewish ritual circumcision, but backgrounds vary. Ask about the provider’s circumcision experience, the ages treated, infection-control practices, pain-control approach, and follow-up process.
Ask which technique is used
Different practitioners use different methods. Holistic Circumcision uses a clamp-free approach. Families should ask any provider to explain the proposed technique in plain language.
Private and at-home settings
Some families prefer not to return to a hospital or clinic with a newborn. Depending on the provider and the baby’s circumstances, an at-home circumcision may be available.

Medical readiness still matters
