Why families ask about revision
Common concerns may include remaining foreskin, skin that appears uneven, adhesions or reattachment, buried appearance, scarring, or dissatisfaction with the cosmetic result. Some concerns improve as swelling resolves or as a child grows, while others may warrant examination.
Do not diagnose the problem from a photo alone
Photographs can sometimes help a provider understand the question, but a proper evaluation may require an in-person examination. Avoid sending sensitive images through an unsecured general contact form unless the provider specifically gives you a secure method.
Timing can matter
Very early after a circumcision, swelling and healing changes can make the final appearance difficult to judge. Ask the original provider or another qualified clinician whether more healing time is appropriate before deciding on revision.

- Is treatment medically necessary, cosmetic, or optional?
- Could the issue improve without another procedure?
- What are the risks and expected outcome of revision?
- What type of pain control or anesthesia would be used?
- What aftercare and follow-up would be required?
Seek prompt medical care for urgent symptoms
Active bleeding that will not stop, fever, difficulty urinating, severe swelling, foul-smelling drainage, or other acute concerns should not wait for a routine cosmetic consultation. Contact an appropriate healthcare professional promptly.
